New ride
March 09, 2007
Congratulations! It's a slightly used full suspension Kona King Kikapu for the 2007 race season. My new little bike arrived on Friday evening. I'd been shopping for a new race bike..and found it! Well, actually Skippy found it.
This bike is HOOKED UP! I don't think the previous owner rode it very much. It was in superb condition as I unpacked it. Not a scratch, dent, ding, or spec of dirt on the thing!!! It has a Marathon XC front fork w/ a ton of travel (120mm)..I'll probably never need than much travel but you never know. It's got a Fox Float R rear suspension shock, all Shimano XT stuff, onyx hubs,Chris King Headset, blah, blah blah. It actually weighs a little less than my hardtail. We switched out the stem from my Kona Explosif hard tail..it was a little too long. Other than that, a few tweaks here & there, & I'll have it dialed in in no time flat.
I took it on it's first ride today at Fishburn. Wow was it smooth! Like butter! I bombed over stuff I usually hesitate down. I did dump it once b/c something tied up the back wheel on a climb. Speaking of climbing..I do have to adjust my position a little more forward when climbing because of the higher travel in the front fork. I think I'm gonna like it!
